Simplicity.

Remember…

Taking ridiculous pictures with throw away cameras and leaving them at the photo place for a few days, and the anticipation you felt before opening that envelope. Flipping through all the pictures, some blurry, some perfect and others irreplaceable.

Writing page long notes to your friends and hoping you’d run in to them somewhere in the hallway to hand off your perfectly and intricately folded 8.5″x11″ explanation of your weekend and the latest details about what was going on at school

Getting a letter in the mail, checking the mailbox, or sometimes getting something unexpected.

The way you felt when you first spent time with someone you really liked, and you talked, shared and laughed and brushed your knuckles against theirs, leading to your hands intertwining so perfectly.

When you had to ask someone about their interests, their job, their friends and family, instead of just seeing what they were like on Facebook by reading a few statuses, their about me and going though some tagged photos

If you had something serious to tell someone something important, something hurtful, something wonderful, you had to build up the courage to talk to them, to sit with them, to be vulnerable in front of them.

These all seem to be such simple things. Simple things that have gotten lost in the world we live in. We are all so used to this idea of Instant Gratification. We want something, we get it.

Who’s in that Movie?  Google it!

What’s the name of that guy Shannon is dating? Is he even good enough looking to date her? Check it out of Facebook!

I want to hook up with someone tonight!  Get on Tinder.

All these things make it so easy for us, easy for us to forget the simple things. How to talk to people, how to build a relationship, how to listen to each other, and how to learn. We don’t judge people on their character, we can already find out so much about them without even meeting them once.

I miss the simplicity of it all. We have come so accustomed to the way we live, But I think we need to take a step away from the way we have been doing things. And get back to the basics. The trueness, the real feelings, the simple things.
